COPPERSTATE Fly-In
Casa Grande, Arizona (KCGZ)
October 23-26, 2008
NOTE: Airspace within 4 nautical miles of the Casa Grande Municipal Airport, up to and including 2500' AGL, will be controlled by a temporary FAA control tower. Check NOTAMS before you depart & listen to ATIS on 132.7 for current information. This page is an excerpt, click here to see the entire Official FAA NOTAM and graphics.
The 36th Annual COPPERSTATE Fly-In will be held at the Casa Grande Municipal Airport (CGZ) from Thursday, October 23 through Sunday, October 26 of this year.
COPPERSTATE is expected to generate an unusually high volume of VFR traffic in the vicinity of CGZ. Since this airspace is routinely subject to intensive student training activity, the amount of VFR traffic concentrated in a relatively small area will be extremely high; consequently, pilots are urged to exercise extreme caution when conducting operations in this area.
There will be a temporary FAA tower in operation at CGZ during daylight hours, beginning at 10:00am on Thursday, October 23rd through 6:00pm on Sunday, October 26th. In addition to the normal requirements for operations at towered airports, pilots operating in the vicinity of CGZ will be expected to comply with Special Air Traffic Procedures, as published by NOTAM in conjunction with this event. Details on these procedures may be obtained from Flight Service and other sources of NOTAM information, or may be found online at the COPPERSTATE website, http://www.copperstate.org.
Due to the high volume of VFR traffic, it is unlikely that tower controllers will approve practice ILS or other instrument approaches to CGZ during the event.
We realize that some training operations may be affected by these restrictions, and we apologize for any inconvenience. However, we’d like to encourage those so affected to join us in celebrating and promoting aviation by attending this 36th annual COPPERSTATE Fly-In. We’ll have aviation exhibitors, aircraft demonstrations, forums on wide ranging aviation topics, plus the largest display of antique, classic, homebuilt, ultralight, and factory built aircraft you’ll find anywhere in the southwest.
